5 things every contractor website needs
Most contractor websites lose leads in the same five places. Here is what to fix first.
Most people looking for a painter, roofer or plumber are on their phone, in a hurry and comparing two or three companies. Your website has a few seconds to answer three questions: do you do the job I need, do you work where I live, and can I trust you? These five things answer them.
1. A page for every service
One "Services" page with a bulleted list isn't enough. Give each main job its own page, like exterior painting, cabinet refinishing or drywall repair, with photos, what's included and a quote button. Separate pages help Google and AI tools match you to the exact thing someone searched for.
2. Your service area, spelled out
Name the towns you cover. A short page for each main town, written honestly about the work you do there, helps you show up for "near me" searches without pretending to have an office in every city.
3. Click-to-call and a short quote form on every page
Put your phone number in the header as a tap-to-call link and keep the quote form to a few fields: name, phone, what you need and where. Every extra field costs you leads.
4. Proof, right where people decide
Before-and-after photos, recent reviews, years in business and a clear "licensed and insured" line belong near the top of the page, not buried on an About page.
5. A Google Business Profile that matches your site
Your business name, phone number, services and service area should match on your website, your Google Business Profile and the big directories. That consistency helps you rank in the map pack and helps AI assistants recommend you with confidence.
